Musical creativity support tools for bereavement support

Self-expression is central to mental well-being and health therapy. Art therapy offers a wide range of expressive mechanisms, allowing individuals process their emotions when traditional therapies prove unsuccessful. However, lack expertise or comfort with artistic expression, along cost waiting times, may hinder one's ability receive needed support. Creative machines can offer novel therapeutic approaches enabling the bereaved engage in creative expression as needed. In this paper, we apply co-creative songwriting system, ALYSIA, new form for those who had recently suffered loss loved one. We evaluate utility system aiding through user testing. The collaborative systems adaptation bereavement discussed have implications other applications.
